Visiting Kether this week, at her home in Bellingham, Washington, we decided on the spur of the moment to take a road trip through the North Cascades, then back to Anacortes and across to Victoria, Canada.
It’s been a long time since I’ve done a road trip with Kether. Lloyd and I did a great trip covering the Puebloan culture of the Southwest this past spring.
This has been different. I’ve been shadowing Kether through her daily life all week. Monday we picked wild blackberries, juicy and sweet, with major brambles. My fingers still hurt. Then we walked into town to rent a movie. It’s a pleasure to be in a town where one can walk to what one wants.
We participated with a food pantry on a gleaning project on a blueberry farm, and ate more blueberries than one can imagine.
